Low energy day

Today was a low energy day. I'm not sure if it has to do with the weather, but I was feeling tired and a little sad. I forced myself to do Turbo Jam Cardio Party, and tonight I will be working out to the biggest loser. I'll probably do some Nordic Track to warm up and then some toning with weights and bands.

I do need to push myself. I think my metabolism is quite messed up due to my age and what I'm going through. The workouts I am doing now used to take weight off, but nothing is budging so much. I don't eat like a mouse either, but maybe I need to be more careful. The holidays are coming up and I don't want to become a moose.

So, I'll keep at it and hope something gives soon. Otherwise, I might need to head to the doctor.

Wednesday thru today

On Wednesday, I took the day off. Thursday was a bike day with 15 miles in a little under an hour. Friday was a bad day. I was supposed to do something, and I didn't.

Today I did Turbo Jam Cardio Party (the original). I found that I'm in much better cardio shape than when I started back in 2004-2005. I got through it, no problem.

Tomorrow I have plans for a big bike ride to get ready. I only have a few weeks left before the Livestrong ride.

My goal is to lose at least 10 pounds by the end of this year. If I can make it to 20 pounds by March, that would be great! I'm not going to weigh myself until I get back in late October. I simply want to work hard and see what happens later so I don't get discouraged.

Keep pushing play or going to the gym, or living it up outside.

From Friday to today

I haven't blogged in a few days. I had a few days of doing a little here and there, but on Friday, I started kicking into a higher gear. I'm working on 2 workouts per day or one hard core workout.

Friday, I did a new cardio workout that my sister sent to me called Work It Off with Tracy York and Michelle Dozios. Good instruction, but a little goofy with the moves. Some of it was a little higher impact for my foot, but I modified and got through it. If you like the Australian dance/aerobics with add on combinations, you will like this workout.

Saturday, I started off with a Fat Burning Dance Party and then did a walk for about 2 miles. Later in the day, I did a little toning.

On Sunday, I went for an about 24 mile bike ride. Booyah! That took everything out of me, but I did a few minutes of abs.

Yesterday, I did Turbo Jam's 30 minute Cardio Party and took a 15 minute walk. Not much that day since I was still tired from the ride.

Today, I did Tony Horton's Power Half Hour Ab workout (can you tell I'm working on abs this week?). I will follow with a walk and some Nordic Track as I watch the Biggest Loser (great to workout with the show!).

I'm on my way!

Still going even if not posting...

I did the full Hip Hop Abs total body. I'm able to do my Nordic track again. The other day I attempted Turbo Jam at low impact, and I was fine.

I was traveling last week and I was able to bring with me a workout band, my laptop, and the Slim and 6 series. I also walked a lot! No more excuses for me, even if I am away from home.

I am training for a 45 mile bike ride for the Livestrong Ride in Austin. The better cardio fit I am, the easier it will be.

I'll be turning the big 40 fairly soon. Wouldn't it be a good gift to myself to get in great shape?

Here's to staying strong!

Long time no blog again!

I'm back! After 6 months of a broken foot situation, I finally have clearance to workout. I can do low impact, biking, pilates, most yoga, etc.

I'm working on getting in shape for the 40 mile Livestrong event in Austin. Lately I do a bike ride twice a week and then supplement with spinning and low impact/toning on the other days. I'm looking to get back to at least the weight I was before the accident. This means I have about 6 -10 pounds to lose. After that, I want to work on the final 10 pounds I was at before. I think I can do it this time. After not moving about for such a long time, I'm more motivated than before since I am grateful that I'm able to.

I'll be sure to check in with my workouts and accomplishments. So far, I have lost 3 pounds! I'm hoping to lose 3 more pounds within the next 2 weeks.

Sunday I did Hip Hop Abs and took a 40 minute walk. Monday I did my Flex Band workout. Today I started off with the Kettlebell workout, and I will add some spinning or a bike ride if the weather allows. So, I'm off to a good start this week.

I found an app for my iPhone called Myfitness Pal. It's an easy way to keep track of calories and the calories you have burned. I discovered that although I eat the right types of foods, I am eating a little too much. I need to scale back by about 200-400 calories per day along with the workouts to create a bigger deficit.

With my new knowledge and new attitude, I think this will be the time I get back to a healthier lifestyle. This time it's for keeps!

Kettlenetics 20 min.

I am back sitting down and working out. I'm having a bad foot day. Today I did the 20 minute Kettlenetics. It's been a low energy day for sure. I'm hoping to get a good night's sleep so I can have energy tomorrow.

Keep pushing play!

Back on my feet for a little bit!

Today I did Hip Hop Abs Full Body Burn and for the beginning part up through the squats, I was on my feet! I couldn't do any moves that were one footed so I just bopped along, but I was able to do the squats. Yay, some cardio!

I am starting to see a little bit of results. More toning and clothes fitting a little better. I guess I'll keep going! :O)

I didn't have the greatest week with only 3 days of workouts, but I ate pretty well, lower calories for less movement.

Have a great weekend!

More of the same...

My foot is still not ready to be used, so I am still doing a lot of floor work and such. Yesterday I did the Kettlenetics Flowmotion 20 minute workout. Not bad for being on the floor only, but definitely didn't get enough legs. The swinging motions do help get the heart rate up a little too.

Last night I went to a hockey game on my crutches. To get to my seats and back to the lot, that was a little bit of a workout for me.

Today, I finally took the wrap off of Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones. I did about 30 minutes worth of the circuits, and I did get an all over body workout with a little heart rate elevation. Without the legs though, I'm certainly missing out.

So despite the injury, I continue to do what I can. I notice that my muscles are toning up, however, the layer of flab is still over them. I'm hoping that once I can do cardio again that it will simply melt off no problem.

Keep pushing play, no matter what!

Back at it...

I took one day off on Thursday. On Friday I did some band floor work and then used the kettlebell to do some core moves.

Today, I did hip hop total body on the floor. I'm now walking with a wrapped foot. It's good to not have to get around on crutches anymore. I'm slow, but moving.

I'm hoping that in two weeks I will be back to working out on my feet, slowly though. I really miss the full cardio effect.

Time to grab some lunch and hit the showers!

Keep pushing play even if you are gimpy like me...

Hip Hop Abs kind of day!

I've been a little lazy the past couple of days getting used to crutches and all. Like that is an excuse! Today I am back at it. I did as much as I could on the floor of Hip Hop Abs Total Body with Shaun T. I only had to skip the squats and cardio segment. My abs are really feeling it.

I did work up a little bit of a sweat, so I know I was working. I do miss the cardio though and am in need of researching about how to get cardio when you can't stand up.

Keep pushing play out there!

Oh...forgot about posting after Biggest Loser...

I forgot to post after the Biggest Loser. I did indeed do a 1 hour workout. I did 45 minutes of Nordic Track and then 15 minutes of band work. Watching the competitors working out kept me going. If they can do it, I surely can.

This was pre-injury...see my post below for the current news.

Injured my foot...now what?!

I had a great momentum going, and then I injured my foot. I had to be taken to the emergency room. Lucky I only strained the muscle/tendon, but does this mean I'm out of the game for my workout resolution?

I say, "No!" I have decided to get a little creative and figure out what I can do. Yesterday I began with 15 minutes of band/ab work and weights. Today, I did 35 minutes of a workout!

Here's what I did:

I first started with Hip Hop last minute Abs . I did everything while sitting on the floor, legs stretched out in front and a few side leg positions. My foot did not touch the ground once! I may have missed out on the more super crunch motion of standing up, but I got the job done - total ab workout for 5 minutes!

Next, I opted to do a band workout video for my arms and shoulders. I have a 10 minute solutions Tone Trouble Zones. I had to get a little creative with some of the moves being on the floor, but I managed.

I attempted to do the 10-minute buns and thighs, but had to change plans. I opted for Winsor Pilates Buns and Thighs 20 minute dvd.

My foot started tingling a little bit after this one, but I made it through.

So, even though you may have an injury, consider what you can do, not what you can't do. Since switching to this mentality, I was able to take myself out of the pity parade on the side lines and put myself back into the game!

Still going strong!

Today after two 45 minute workouts, I decided to do a favorite 20 minute with my 2 pound weight gloves to make it more challenging. I was still sweating and very thirsty afterwards. I did the 20-minute Turbo Jam. Fun music and moves.

Tomorrow is Biggest Loser which I do about an hour on my Nordic Track. I'll check in tomorrow after the show.

Thrift shop bonus!

I went to the local Humane Society thrift store and found an incomplete set for Hip Hop Abs. It is missing one of the workouts, but for $4.00 it was worth it to try it out.

This morning I popped in Total Body Burn. The workout was one of the funnest workouts I have done in a long time and Shaun T was a riot! It did not seem like an over 40 minute workout since I was grooving the entire time. And let me tell you, complete body workout with cardio! I was sweating!

I was on the hunt to see if I could find the missing dvd, but Beachbody does not sell their dvd's individually. Too bad for them. They wanted to resell the entire workout set to me again. I said, nah! However, I will keep Shaun T workouts in mind in the future, but only the dance vibe ones.

Here's the real lesson in the great find, if the workout is fun, I want to workout! I guess I really was bored. Now that I have a few new workouts to rotate in, I seem to be more excited about working out again. Yay!

Keep pushing play and make sure you have workouts you really enjoy.

40 minute kettlenetics

So today I got the guts to try the 40 minute kettlenetics. It turns out that it was 47 plus minutes, but at least there was a good stretch at the end this time.

I am sweating, and I have a feeling I'm going to be sore tonight and tomorrow. The good news is that for the past week, I did 5 days of really good workouts! All of them had some cardio and toning so everything is covered.

Tomorrow starts my new week. I will step it up a notch and go for 6 days of workouts cardio/toning. I'm going to add some turbo jam with the weighted gloves in too. Should be fun. Over the weekend I'm going to search for another workout and donate some of my dvd's to a local thrift/charity store. If I had a gym membership, I'd be spending at least $20 a month, right? So, to keep from being bored, why not rotate new workouts in every month.

Keep pushing play out there and enjoy the sunshine!

Workout accomplished!

Yesterday, I was so sore from that kettlenetics workout that I was only able to do a 15 minute stretch workout. I've been applying all sorts of goop to my tired and sore muscles.

Today, I did an 11-minute Nordic Track (1 mile) and stretch and then just now I did the 20 minute kettlenetics workout. Tonight I will do some kind of stretch as well.

She keeps saying (Michelle) that I will wittle my waist. We shall see!

I think I will take measurements on Sunday to see if this helped any in the first week. Tomorrow is Nordic Track and the next day, K-bell again. I think I will do something different on Thursday and Friday.

2010 and new start

It's been a while. I'm still looking at steps once in a while, but I think I really needed a new workout. Yes, I have been bored. I have tons of dvd's, but nothing new and exciting now. So, I was at Target and saw the workout I was considering (for an entire year), Kettlenetics, and I bought it! I start today!

Now I really know the importance of keeping workouts fresh. If you keep doing the same things over and over, you can get bored to the point of not wanting to workout anymore, which is where I was at. I'll check back in later to let you know how I liked the workout.
